Your backyard certainly gathers a contingent of party animals! Must say these photos - and the spur of that camera in your hands are pretty inspirational. Think I may send a volunteer into the topmost reaches of the “big” closet to find my camera now.

This is something I really miss about living in the country in Minnesota. Used to sit in my grandparent's sun room for hours at a time as a kid watching the juncos, chickadees, bluejays, and cardinals while listening to the red-winged blackbirds sing to each other down at the pond.

Loved this! Sounds like you have a perfect sanctuary just steps from your back door. And I loved your phrasing "the pictures come to me." That is exactly how it works so much of the time when you can just slip into the scene or moment and allow them to land on you like butterflies :)

Nice pics. Nice narrative. When we were in Eugene, I learned to pack my pocket digital camera with me on my bike and when afoot. Camera phone is only for when I can’t pull out the camera fast enough.
