I love this so much that you type it out on a typewriter. I have thought of going to the upper peninsula of Michigan to camp for a summer, and was always bummed about how I would keep up with my writing. Taking a photo of writing done on a typewriter and uploading from a cafe on weekly trips to town sounds perfect, very inspiring.
I can't wait to read this now. It's been gathering dust upon my shelf for many a long year. (I've also got Dharma Bums and some other beatnik poetry thing in the queue thanks to you.) What you say here about Kesey doing things you've never seen any other writer pull off before -- I recall having similar thoughts about Sometimes a Great Notion, where he did some Faulkneresque things but so much better than Faulkner (so I thought and still probably do).

Thanks for continuing to expertly curate my impossibly long reading list.

Added to the list.
