Speaking of Mr Springsteen, Cadillacs and Wisconsin:

Hey, little girlie in the blue jeans so tight

Drivin' alone through the Wisconsin night

You're my last love baby you're my last chance

Don't let 'em take me to the Cadillac Ranch

Cadillac, Cadillac

Long and dark, shiny and black

Pulled up to my house today

Came and took my little girl away

Talk about personal vendetta. Interesting way thoughts pop unto our heads. Also I love how you roasted Jack Kerouc's book.

In Zen we say 'the verse of repentance' (maybe not as Catholic as it sounds), that goes: "All my ancient twisted karma – from beginningless greed, hate, and delusion, borne through body, speech, and mind – I now fully avow." Ancient twisted karma, like a strand of DNA. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree even through the generations. And Jack's nattering on about it proves that he hasn't truly avowed it (recognized and let it go).

The Kerouac story reminded me of Nietzsche questioning the objectivity of writers, philosophers - "Life as the product of life - However far man may extend himself with his knowledge, however objective he may appear to himself—ultimately he reaps nothing but his own biography."
