If I were a hat wearing woman, I would doff it to you for writing these delightful posts every day. Thank you. The note about the heron using twigs as bait is fascinating!
A few years ago, my wife and I were camping at FDR state park here in Georgia. Before we left the house she had baked a pound cake for our camping trip. I forgot and left it on the picnic table overnight at the campsite and the next morning the ants had gotten into the cover and into the cake. We were camping next to the lake, so I took the cake and tossed it into the lake. It became the desert for some small turtles. Most of the cake was still in the water when the turtles all swam away, and we figured out why. A massive snapping turtle came up and started feeding on the pound cake. When he got his fill and left the little ones came back and finished it off.
Love the new heron stamp.
Me too!
Great words and pics

What a sweet story, no labor nature watching

Lovely! We saw a green heron for the 1st time too, during our vacation visit of my oldest son in NJ. Such a beautiful bird!
Green is as great a color for a heron as blue
Great Green Heron photo. I like rare wading birds I heard a Bittern at my favorite lake last year.
Green heron is pretty cunning! Love the pictures. Very nice!
Love your walks. And delighted with the chipmunks— must have very few cats around…
