The house my wife and I are in is one she has lived in for 40 plus years, me? I moved in in the year 2000. We have done some work on the house over the years, and it needs some other "touch up" and we have considered selling and moving but houses around here go for $300,000 but most of the 3/2 are $450,000 and up. Ours is a small wood sided house and at times it looks a little out of place around these big brick houses but when my wife bought it was what she could afford plus it was in the country and sitting on 3.7 acres. She gets calls all the time from real-estate people, but they don't want the house, they want the land. The house is paid for along with our vehicles, so we are not going to go cheap plus we both have acquired a lot of "stuff" over the years.
We were looking for something to do. Then we did it when we bought this house we are in now, and we are still doing it, and will continue to do it... because that is what home ownership is... it's doing it over and over again.

Now I'm not an expert but this house has a strong German Bäderarchitektur flavor to it, especially from the front (?). I wonder what the history behind it is.
It’s fun to browse anywhere! That house was kind of spooky though and the heating costs would be a little high. Did you check out the basement?
Yep, we checked it out from top to bottom. The basement was pretty creepy.
Was it like the basement in the comedy series "Ghost"?
I was thinking that!
That exterior shot does put me in mind of a house that would be featured in a horror movie.
Same here
Amazing home!!!
Enjoyed your story .
Is that home perhaps located in Amityville?
That is a bit too much of a fixer-upper for me. You did well with the Hunker Bunker!

Yes. Moving is hard after all the accumulated “stuff”.
Coulda been a home for wandering typewriters!
That is great old house. Someone will flip it for $400,000.
No.
I do this too! With my mum! We too have a penchant for those ‘fixer-uppers’!
I hope someone buys that house and loves it back into life. An untended house feels sad somehow.

Probably why (in UK) watching TV shows Homes Under The Hammer+ Escape to the Country are so enjoyable.

Cool! It has a turret! And those hardwood floors.
