I'll tell you a secret Kent, although really it's not a secret seeing as how this is public. I learned to walk twice because I was temp. paralyzed after surgery years ago. This is me years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZptPQEgdiM&t=449s Although I wouldn't have looked at it as a blessing while I was struggling at the time, it kind of was a blessing because very few get to learn what I did through experience in their lifetime. Watching your children learning to walk is one thing but to actually feel what it takes to move is a whole other ball game. Just to raise a finger takes more muscle control than many could possibly imagine. A leg and walking takes even more muscle control. I couldn't agree with you more. Walking is SO important and if I'm being 100% honest, it's kinda hurtful for me to know that some people really just sit in their chairs all day. Some do not take care of their bodies and I've got to wonder why? My parents are like that and I don't fully understand it but my mother is like that the most. In the past, I would have given anything to have the ability to be out of a wheelchair as I do today. I can't help but question why anyone wouldn't take care of themselves so that they don't have to go through what I did. What helped me to get out of a wheelchair was exercise. I truly, TRULY wish that everyone walked if they can because it truly is a blessing that everyone sadly doesn't have. Anyway, love your post as always my friend.
Thank you for saying that Kent. I don't want to make anyone think that I'm anything special. I simply did what was needed for me to live. That was also years ago, both that video and even more so my surgery. I'm actually LUCKY, some who have had that type of surgery end up much worse, and some end up even with an easier recovery. It's a HUGE risk. That was actually a free event that I haven't gone to in years for multiple reasons but one is because I strive to be known for my art. I leave that video up to hopefully let someone know that they aren't alone, etc. I still do yoga stretches and meditation daily (when possible) to keep myself from going through that again. I highly suggest it. Daily movement and as you said walking really is wonderful! I think YOU'RE more inspirational.
I remember before we made road vehicles cybertransports the size of houses with all the same modcons that you could actually feel the road, sometimes leaning into turns while resting your hands and feet in readiness to smoothly change gears at the timely moment. Of course, after more than half a century on the roadways I long for a vehicle that could protect me against the multitudes who forgot how to drive during the pandemic.
I've never thought of it that way before. Your friend must really enjoy riding a unicycle, because there are so many more opportunities for falling. We had one as kids and had quite a blast with it!
Excellent piece. I have owned several cars but never actually drove myself. My foot and hand and eyes just couldn’t get the hang of it, so I stopped trying. It wasn’t for me. It felt unnatural.
Nothing beats a good walk, especially in the countryside.
Falling gives you direction.
hahahaha! It does!
This is philosophy. I like it.
I think most people know this. They're always telling me to get on my bike or to take a hike. Very considerate of them to have my health in mind...

Walking is the first and best form of travel.

Absolutely true.
That’s life: If you’re not paying attention you’re falling
Great observation!
Andy is a wise man!
This is wonderful, thank you.

This was a joy to read. Thanks for sharing.
So simple it's profound. I really like this one!
Wow: I feel like a SLUG! Unless taking care of dogs & cats and cleaning house counts?
