Lol! Imagine this one Kent... going through some old family albums I came across a photo of my father-in-law all bundled up, sitting beside his brother on a sleigh in the depths of a Canadian prairie winter. His brother was holding the reins to the horse pulling the sleigh. My father-in-law was six, and his brother was eight. The little boys took the sleigh six miles to school and back every day in the winter across the wide-open prairie. It isn't unusual for the temperatures to reach 30 below F where they lived. Unbelievable, but true! This story is so incomprehensible by today's standards that no one would even believe it. How quickly times change.
I enjoyed reading your post. Obviously, it sparked some thoughts of my own. Best to you, Kent.
For the last 4-5 years I re-read Jack Londons' "To Build a Fire" when our first Central Iowa cold snap hits. Enjoy your stories.
