Just that word at the top made me shiver. How I do not miss the Chicago cold! I must fix some hot chocolate!

Most of this week will see temperatures well below freezing for northeastern Wisconsin.

Not my favorite season. Your area will probably be colder, Kent. Bundle up!

They say the same stuff about Winnipeg in winter, but I wouldn't want to experience it anywhere else.

I try to believe I have genes adapted to the cold...guess I'm not trying hard enough! Last evening I could barely talk myself into going outside at 4:00 PM to walk,m because I always try before it gets dark. It took so long to convince myself, that it WAS dark when I left, and the temperature hadn't risen/

Today--I hope a bit earlier. It's sunny and might break the freezing mark...

Where I live, cold is 70 degrees F. I. wouldn't fit into your climate at all. Good luck keeping warm until spring.

Traditions, even the small ones, should be appreciated. They may be gone one of these days.

I remember. I lived in Minneapolis for 5 years. I arrived during the warmer El Niño year. Then I got a real winter where I was walking to work during the transit strike. I only lasted a few years. But I drove up to Ely to the international Wolf center during winter... In an old mustang convertible with winter tires. I had a lonely apartment so hunkering was not an option. On New Year's Eve after midnight we would drive down Nicollet Mall with the top down cheering at everyone, then go inside to warm up.

Yes, I remember the “bitter cold” of winter in central Wisconsin.

It was surely warmer reading your post, Kent! Kudos to you!

Having spent twenty some years in Boston, I appreciate your comments about the weather. While it does add to the holiday spirit , keeping warm can never be overstated.

Our small city does a 4-hour festival to kick off the holiday season with a tree-lighting at 6pm followed by some pretty cool fireworks. At least a couple hundred people came downtown in 35 degree temps.

That looks heavenly! I’m a cold-weather fan stuck in the south, though my lovely bride absolutely hates the cold so here I remain.

Cold even here. 54 degrees tonight. I’m going to have to sleep in socks tonight.

Somehow I doubt you’ll ever be tempted to move north.

Grew up in the Midwest. I do miss spring and fall.
